John Chiocchio did his best Homer Simpson impression Tuesday night and couldn’t contain his excitement over a report before Welland city council. “Woo hoo! … Lincoln Street Docks. I’m excited,” said the Ward 3 councillor, reacting to new swimming docks proposed along the Welland Recreational Canal. The city was looking to award Stolk Construction a $73,540 contract for installation of the docks at the popular unsupervised swimming area south of Lincoln Street.
