SCOPE
Renovation and refresh of existing Wendy’s restaurant on Lake Street in St. Catharines.
ISSUE
Owner desired to update the existing restaurant as the décor and façade were dated.
ASSOCIATED OPPORTUNITY
Manage the update of this restaurant for Compass Restaurant Group while ensuring minimal operational downtime at this high traffic location.
KEY PROJECT COMPONENTS
- Tight construction timelines required precise scheduling of all construction and required trades, timing the supply of materials to reduce delays
- Coordination with owner’s vendors to ensure all restaurant equipment was commissioned and all inspections completed before desired opening day
- Drive thru remained open to service clients for three weeks of this five-week project
- Dining room floor, walls, ceiling, and furniture were all replaced to update the store to the new Wendy’s décor
- Porcelain tile throughout the dining area, vestibules, and public washrooms
- New AODA compliant entrance doors with automatic operators to improve accessibility
- All existing lighting was replaced with low energy LED lighting
- Exterior façade was removed and updated to Wendy’s Restaurants’ new design including the unique, tall “Wendy’s Red” blade wall with logo facing the road
- Majority of the kitchen equipment required replacement
- New kitchen equipment required new exhaust hoods and ANSUL fire suppression system
- The entire kitchen floor was replaced with slip resistant floor coating throughout including integrated cove base extending 6” up adjacent walls
