What does Stolk Construction do?

Services and delivery
Does Stolk offer design-build services?
Yes. In a design-build project, Stolk manages both the design and the construction under one contract, giving you a single point of accountability from concept to completion. On design-build projects, Stolk also handles the permit approvals.
What is the difference between general contracting, design-build, and construction management?
With general contracting, you bring a completed design and Stolk prices and builds it. With design-build, Stolk handles design and construction together under one contract. With construction management, Stolk runs the administrative side of your project, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating trades, on your behalf. Stolk can advise on which model best fits your project.
Does Stolk self-perform work, or subcontract everything?
Stolk has its own multi-skilled field crews, which many general contractors do not. That lets them respond quickly, stay flexible when problems arise, and keep projects on schedule, rather than depending entirely on subtrades.
Does Stolk Construction offer facility maintenance?
Yes, and it is one of the things that sets Stolk apart. Beyond construction, Stolk provides ongoing facility maintenance, so the same team that builds or renovates your facility can keep it running for the life of the building.
Can Stolk renovate a building while it stays in operation?
Yes. Much of Stolk’s renovation work happens in occupied, working buildings. They phase the work and control disruption so your operations keep running, including structural modifications like new openings, added loads, and reinforcement.
Does Stolk build pre-engineered steel buildings?
Yes. Stolk is the Niagara-authorized Butler Builder, designing, supplying, and constructing pre-engineered steel buildings custom-engineered for each project. These go up faster than conventional construction and suit industrial, commercial, and institutional use.
Does Stolk handle site servicing?
Stolk coordinates site servicing (excavation, grading, sewers, watermains, and underground utilities) as part of your project, managing the civil work under one contract and schedule so you do not have to run a separate contractor.
Sectors and projects
Does Stolk take on smaller projects, or only large ones?
Both. While Stolk delivers large industrial and institutional projects, they bring the same commitment to smaller maintenance and repair jobs. The project size changes; the standard does not.
What energy projects does Stolk work on?
Over the last decade, Stolk has taken on more energy-sector work, including co-generation (combined heat and power) and biomass facilities, supporting industrial and institutional clients in Niagara.
Does Stolk work with schools, universities, and public institutions?
Yes. Stolk has a long history of institutional work in Niagara, including school boards and post-secondary institutions, and is a pre-qualified contractor for major institutional clients.
