The Stolk Mission

Six decades in, the mission hasn't changed

Since 1962, Stolk Construction has built, renovated and maintained facilities across the Niagara Region and Southern Ontario. Three generations and more than 10,000 projects later, plenty has changed: the tools, the codes, the scale of the work. Now our website has too.

What hasn't changed is the mission: Building Success, Together. With our new site live, we're taking the moment to re-introduce ourselves. Who we are, what we stand for, and why most of the people we work with keep coming back.

Who we are: a Niagara general contractor, three generations strong

Stolk is a full-service general contractor and design-build partner headquartered in Port Colborne. We work across four sectors: industrial, commercial, institutional and energy. Energy is our newest, and one we're investing in. Work like our combined heat and power (CHP) installation for Coca-Cola shows what our crews deliver inside complex, operating facilities.

Our services follow the full life of a building. We build, through preconstruction, design-build, general contracting and construction management. We renovate, from structural modifications to full retrofits. And we maintain, with facility maintenance and site servicing long after handover.

Behind it all is a team of 40+ full-time people: senior leadership, general foremen, project managers, estimators and a dedicated client advocate. Meet them on our Who We Are page.

Our mission: Building Success, Together

Three words, and each one does real work.

Building means quality craftsmanship, self-performed by our own crews since 1962. We build it right the first time.

Success means your building isn't the finish line. It's what lets your operation run and grow for years after we hand over the keys.

Together means we stay in it with you, from the first drawing to the final walk-through and beyond.

Our values put that mission into practice every day:

  • Relationships first. We treat clients like part of the Stolk family, and the relationship outlasts the project.
  • The experience, not just the result. Clear communication, no surprises, a real partnership.
  • The same commitment at every size. A small maintenance call gets the same standard as a major build.
  • Our own crews, our own accountability. Because we self-perform, we solve problems instead of waiting on someone else.
  • One partner for the life of your facility. Build, renovate, maintain, without starting over with someone new.
  • Built on 60+ years, built for what's next. Experience doesn't mean standing still. We bring modern thinking to a traditional industry.

The Stolk difference: results you can measure

Any contractor can promise "on time and on budget." But major projects run into unknowns: shifting scope, site conditions, schedule pressure. What matters is a partner with the foresight to spot issues early and the experience to solve them.

Our track record speaks plainly: 60+ years in business, 10,000+ projects completed and 90% repeat client work. That last number is the one we're proudest of. Clients don't come back by accident.

It comes down to how we work. We manage risk in the open, anticipated early, priced fairly and communicated clearly, so there are no surprise invoices at the end. Safety isn't a department here; it's built on one principle: everyone goes home. That's why plant managers trust our crews inside their facilities. We're also working to make a historically under-diverse industry better reflect the communities we build in.

That approach has earned recognition, including the Port Colborne-Wainfleet Chamber of Commerce 2025 President's Award for Outstanding Businesses and certification as a Living Wage Employer.

Our culture: built on our people

Stolk has been family-run since the early 1960s, and it still feels that way. People know each other, look out for each other, and stay. Many have been with us for years, some for decades.

We invest in that team deliberately: continuing education, apprenticeship and ticket support, mentorship, ongoing safety training, and compensation that shares in the company's success. As a larger regional contractor, we offer real room to grow, from sharpening a trade to leading bigger, more complex work.

For our clients, that pays off on every job. The crew on your site is experienced, accountable and invested in getting it right.

Let's build something worth coming back for

Six decades in, our mission is the same one that started it all: build it right, stand behind it, and be there long after the job is done. The building is what we deliver. The relationship is what we're about.

Whether you're planning a new industrial facility, renovating a commercial or institutional space, exploring an energy project, or looking for a long-term maintenance partner, we'd like to hear about it.

Let's talk about your next project.
